Delta Airlines teams up with Seattle’s Best Coffee to serve Premium Coffee onboard

Delta Airlines recently signed an agreement with Seattle’s Best Coffee, which is a part of Starbucks Corporation. The beverage company will serve Delta passengers freshly brewed Seattle’s Best Coffee onboard on all domestic and international direct and connecting flights. The services will begin from 1st March 2011.

The current move is the part of the airline’s USD 2 billion investment in the customer experience on the ground and in the air, but for Seattle’s Best the new agreement is a significant step forward it its ongoing strategy to broaden its premium coffee market that includes from restaurant to the runways.

Delta’s senior vice president of marketing, Tim Mapes, said, "A premium customer experience requires premium coffee and Delta is proud to serve Seattle's Best. During in-flight taste testing, we saw firsthand the passion Delta customers have for coffee and for the role it plays in a superior travel experience."

Last year in December the Delta customers were made to participate in the in-flight coffee taste testing confirming one of its new coffee blends, level 4, which would be served onboard. The beverage company also launched the campaign, “The Level System” in which the customers were to rank the served coffee between 1 and 5 on roast intensity.

Existing Seattle's Best Coffee fans will be delighted to find their favorite coffee on their next Delta flight, and for those not yet familiar, it is an opportunity for us to introduce our great coffee to Delta's more than 160 million global travelers each year," said Michelle Gass, president, Seattle's Best Coffee.  

In the past few months the beverages company has also signed agreements with other reputed brands such as Burger King, Subway and AMC Theaters. The company has show a tremendous growth in expanding its horizon since May 2010.The Delta Airlines will raise the customers list to 40000 from current 3000 in 2009 who will enjoy the taste of the premium coffee.
